CiA® 414 series: CANopen device profiles for weaving machines
The CiA 414 set of device profiles specifies the CANopen interfaces for weaving machine sub-systems, such as feeders. The feeder profile covers both single and multiple feeder units and supports two main categories of feeders. One category includes feeders for weaving machines with fluid insertion of the yarn, introduced with air-jet and water-jet weaving machines, and referred to as pre-measuring feeders. The other category, known as weft feeders, pertains to devices used in weaving machines with mechanical yarn injection, such as rapier and projectile weaving machines.
Typical features of feeders include devices for adjusting or varying the weft tension. These devices often include mechanical or electronic sensors that detect the absence of yarn at the feeder's input side. These sensors are used to stop the machine before the weft reserve is completely depleted. They are also utilized in conjunction with automatic color selection systems to minimize loom stoppages in the event of yarn breakage.
