CiA technical groups
CiA Technical Committee
The CiA Technical Committee chaired by the CiA Technical Director comprises elected members Emotas, ESD, Kvaser, Microcontol, Murata, and Vector, and representatives of established interest groups (IG). It manages the development, the release, and the maintenance of CiA technical documents.
IG01 CANopen CC
The IG01 CANopen CC develops and maintains CiA technical documents related to CANopen CC (classic). It coordinates its SIGs and related TFs. It approves DS documents developed by SIGs. The group is responsible for the CiA 3XX series, especially CiA 301.
IG02 CANopen FD
The IG02 CANopen FD develops and maintains CiA technical documents related to CANopen FD. It coordinates its SIGs and related TFs. It approves DS documents developed by SIGs. The group is responsible for the CiA 13XX series, especially CiA 1301.
IG03 Profiles
The IG03 Profiles develops and maintains CiA technical documents related to device, interface, and application profiles. It coordinates its SIGs and TFs. It approves DS documents developed by SIGs. The group is responsible for the CiA 4XX series including the mapping to CANopen CC, CANopen FD, and other higher-layer protocols such as J1939.
IG04 Lower layers
The IG04 Lower layers develops and maintains CiA technical documents related to the OSI data link layer and the OSI physical layer. This includes CAN CC, CAN FD, CAN FD light, and CAN XL. The IG04 coordinates its SIGs and related TFs. It approves DS documents developed by SIGs. The group is responsible for the CiA 6XX series.
IG05 J1939
The IG05 J1939 observes and comments J1939-based documents. This includes documents of the SAE J1939 series, the ISO 11783 series (also known as Isobus), DIN 4630, and IEC 61162-3 (also known as NMEA 2000). Additionally, the IG05 develops and maintains the CiA 5XX series.
IG06 Safety and security
The IG06 Safety and security develops and maintains CiA technical documents related to cross-layer functional safety and cyber security services and protocols. It coordinates its SIGs and related TFs. The group approves DS documents developed by SIGs. Additionally, it supports the development and maintenance of EN 50325-5 (CANopen Safety).
IG07 High availability
The IG07 High availability develops and maintains concepts for mission-critical CAN-based networks. This covers different redundancy concepts such as device, bus-line, or system redundancy for CAN-based applications.
